Job Description
Responsibilities:

As a Cost Engineer, you'll play a key role in Integrated Work Teams (i.e. surface/subsurface, upstream/downstream, EP/GP) and contribute specialist cost engineering input to field development studies. Developing cost estimates for various upstream development projects, ranging from Level 1 screening estimates to Level 4 execution estimates, you'll also benchmark cost estimates against other Shell and industry projects and conduct cost risk analysis for projects including the use of probabilistic estimating techniques. In addition, we'll look to you to perform the following tasks:

Lead or participate in efforts to develop and/or continuously improve standardised tools and processes for cost estimating and benchmarking
Interface effectively across other disciplines/businesses as a member of fully integrated STI/Customer technical teams (including subsurface, wells, project execution staff)
Ensure all work is properly QA/QC'd by the appropriate technical authorities, the findings are documented and action items formally closed-out
Participate in the virtual knowledge sharing network and take a pro-active approach to knowledge sharing and engagement with colleagues in operating units
Work independently and within multi-disciplinary teams and over time become an engineering team leader and integrated team leader
Maintain excellent communications with the operational groups, partners and other stakeholders and with other technical disciplines within Shell's technical community. This includes representing the technical work to the Shell customers and Joint Venture partners, coach, mentor and develop junior and graduate staff.
Desired Candidate Profile
Requirements:

With a minimum BSc or its equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline, we'll prefer you to be a Chartered Engineer or its national equivalent.
With extensive experience in cost estimating or related project services roles, you'll have spent some time with an owner operating company involved in conceptual and budget estimating.
Experience in at least one EP assignment in front-end definition work is required, and you'll be conversant with cost engineering practices and procedures and able to apply these to complex and non-complex projects. Probabilistic estimating techniques is desirable, and you should have excellent PC skills with an emphasis on computation and data analysis using spreadsheets and databases.
You'll also have broad exposure to all aspects of typical EP engineering including well engineering, process engineering, pipeline engineering, structural engineering, construction engineering, etc.
With excellent team and interpersonal skills, you'll also have the ability to interact with other disciplines, customers and contractors.
A permit to work in India is essential for this positon.
